IMPORTANT INFO

Get access to the club’s Spond app here. This will have all the competition entry links and training/event dates.

Kinsa Judo Club is a British Judo Association (BJA) affiliated club that covers the counties of Surrey and Hampshire. Membership of the BJA is mandatory and a condition of being a member of Kinsa Judo Club. The BJA is the national governing body for judo in the UK and whilst there are a few other associations for judo in the UK – it is the BJA players that end up at the Olympics etc. and they ensure that we as a club, comply with safeguarding, first aid, insurance and coaching qualifications and having a licence opens up competition and grading pathways and provides insurance for players.

As a general rule of thumb, if your child attends classes in Haslemere or Moss Lane – then assign them to Kinsa Judo 2706 and select Surrey as the County and Southern as the area. If your child attends classes in Bordon or Sherborne House – then assign them to Kinsa Judo 2726 and select Hampshire as the County and Southern as the area.

BJA competitions are open to players aged 8 years of age and over and who have a full junior licence, however there will be a few opportunities for our younger students to take part in judo festivals. Licences are usually valid for a year.

You can apply for a BJA licence here, I would recommend applying for it online, rather than downloading a hardcopy application form. If you need assistance with obtaining your child’s licence or have any queries with it, please contact someone in the Membership Team at the BJA. Their number is 0121 728 6920 and they’re open Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00.

All competitions, Surrey and Hampshire County training dates are available on the SPOND app.

NB: If in doubt on entering/attending any of these events, please check with Fiona first to make sure that it is pitched at the right level for your child and that they meet the participation criteria and ensure that you are aware of the closing deadlines! If entering a competition – assume that it will take the whole day. Timings at competitions are only a guide and cannot be guaranteed, so do not enter if you have other events etc. on the same day. You will also need to ensure that you bring the membership card and the licence book along to EVERY competition and grading – your child will not be able to compete or grade without it! Once you have entered a competition please let Fiona know. I will always try to be there to support and coach if I can.
